چکیده

FOREWORD Salt-induced reinforcing steel corrosion in concrete bridges has undoubtedly become a considerable economic burden to many State and local transportation agencies. Since the iron in the steel has a natural tendency to revert eventually to its most stable oxide state, this problem will, unfortunately, still be with us, but to a much lesser degree due to the use of various corrosion protection strategies currently used in new construction. The adoption of corrosion protection measures in new construction, such as the use of good design and construction practices, adequate concrete cover depth, low-permeability concrete, corrosion inhibitors, and coated reinforcing steel, is significantly reducing the occurrence of reinforcing steel corrosion in new bridges. This report summarizes the results of various research investigations in developing and evaluating the performance of various corrosion protection systems. This report describes materials and measures that can be used for corrosion control in reinforced and prestressed concrete bridge structures in new construction. This report will be of interest to materials and bridge engineers, reinforced concrete corrosion specialists, and those concerned with the performance of reinforced and prestressed concrete bridges. Time-Dependent Structural Behavior of Repaired Corroded RC Columns Located in a Marine Site

The chloride corrosion of reinforcing steel in reinforced concrete (RC) structures is a significant reason for premature deterioration and failure of RC structures in aggressive environments such as Persian Gulf region. This is one of the most important sources of engineering and economic problems in developed countries. So, the repair and maintenance of RC structures exposed to corrosive envir...

Experimental Investigation of Corrosion Cracking in Reinforced Concrete Beams Containing Nano Wollastonite

Cracking of the concrete cover due to corrosion is defined as the serviceability limit state of reinforced concrete structures. This study evaluated the influence of a mineral admixture i.e. nano wollastonite on corrosion performance and serviceability of reinforced concrete structures by performing an accelerated corrosion test on ten reinforced concrete beams under a sustained load. To do so,...

CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF ZINC COATED STEEL REBAR IN HIGH-STRENGTH REINFORCED CONCRETE

A large number of reinforced concrete structures subjected to chloride ions. Two basicapproaches for preventing corrosion of reinforcing steel embedded in concrete are: Increasing theconsolidation of concrete and using different coating on rebars. In present research steel rebarsare coated in different ways: a) 40 µm of zinc electroplated on steel rebar b) Zinc powder withepoxy paste (zinc rich...
